LATAM to leave oneworld on 30th April

30th April is the last chance to redeem Avios for LATAM flights

From 30th April you will no longer be able to earn or redeem Avios with LATAM. Originally this wasn’t due to happen until 30th September. There is talk of individual airlines such as BA maintaining a bi-lateral arrangement with LATAM but there are no details yet.

Until 30th April you can still redeem for tickets after 30th April, but will not earn BA tier points or have access to any oneworld status benefits after 30th April.

LATAM flights to Easter Island

LATAM was the best way to get to Easter Island and can still be booked with Avios until 30th April, including for flights after 30th April. I booked LATAM from Tahiti (PPT) to Easter Island (IPC) with Avios. A 5 hour flight in business cost me £350 and 19500 Avios, versus a cash price of £1500.

You can also use Avios to book LATAM from Easter Island to Chile (SCL), although I used an Amex Travel offfer to get a business class ticket for just £450.

LATAM flights in both directions between Tahiti and Easter Island, or Easter Island and Chile, are available and bookable with Avios but can be hard to find because it is a popular route and isn’t daily.
